Tyreek Hill found liable for two counts of battery in civil trial

A Miami jury has found NFL wide receiver Tyreek Hill liable for two counts of battery in a civil lawsuit brought by his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro. The jury awarded Vaccaro $500,000 in compensatory damages but declined to award punitive damages, rejecting her original request for $8 million.

The verdict follows a week-long trial involving incidents from January 2024 and April 2025. While Hill was found liable for the two battery counts, he was cleared of eight other allegations, including claims of continuous domestic violence, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The outcome adds uncertainty to Hill’s professional future. Currently a free agent after being released by the Miami Dolphins, Hill is also recovering from a serious knee injury sustained in September 2025. The NFL has confirmed it is continuing to review the matter under its personal conduct policy, which allows for league discipline independent of civil or criminal proceedings.

During the trial, Hill testified that he had pushed Vaccaro against a wall during a heated argument but denied other allegations of physical abuse. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, stated that while a deal with a new team could happen at any time, they are seeking the right medical and contractual fit.
