Tyrell Malacia joins FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer

FC Cincinnati has officially signed Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia to a contract running through June 2027, with an option for the 2027/28 Major League Soccer season. Malacia joins the club as a free agent following his departure from Manchester United.

The 27-year-old defender brings extensive European experience to the Ohio-based club, having made over 250 appearances in major competitions. His career includes stints at Feyenoord, Manchester United, and a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven. Malacia also represented the Netherlands at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

To facilitate the move, FC Cincinnati acquired an international slot from St. Louis CITY SC in exchange for $200,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM). Cincinnati General Manager Chris Albright noted that Malacia’s technical qualities and defensive capabilities will provide significant value to the squad.
