Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey has publicly refuted claims made by ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith regarding a private meeting with former head coach Doc Rivers.

During an episode of ‘First Take’, Smith suggested that Maxey had visited Rivers’ home nearly in tears due to frustration over James Harden’s performance during the 2023 NBA playoffs. Maxey responded on social media, stating, ‘I’ve never even been to DOC house’.

The dispute follows a heated on-court confrontation between Maxey and former teammate James Harden during the 76ers’ recent 114-106 comeback victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Smith had posited that the exchange between the two players was fueled by lingering resentment from the 2023 Eastern Conference semifinals.
