Tyréns and ELU awarded Mälarbanan railway expansion project

Technical consultants Tyréns and project manager ELU have been awarded a major infrastructure contract by Trafikverket to develop the Mälarbanan railway through Sundbyberg and parts of Solna. This project is considered one of the largest and most complex railway infrastructure assignments in the Swedish market.

The development involves constructing four tracks within tunnels to increase railway capacity and improve connectivity within the urban environment. The expansion aims to create a more cohesive city landscape while facilitating long-term train traffic in the Mälardalen region.

The work includes creating construction documents and tender specifications for civil engineering works, with a specific focus on structural engineering, geotechnics, and hydrogeology. The project is described as the final and most challenging stage of the Mälarbanan expansion.
