Tyrol and South Tyrol honor volunteers at Hoher Frauentag
During the traditional ‘Hoher Frauentag’ ceremony held at the Kaiserliche Hofburg in Innsbruck, officials from Tyrol and South Tyrol honored numerous citizens for their volunteer work and life-saving actions. The event featured speeches from Tyrol Governor Anton Mattle and South Tyrol Governor Arno Kompatscher, who emphasized that volunteerism is a vital pillar of society.
Awards presented included 140 merit medals, 46 merit crosses, and 23 life-saving medals. The life-saving medals were awarded to individuals who acted selflessly in eleven specific cases to rescue others from danger, including first responders who rescued occupants from a burning vehicle in Thiersee. Additionally, 14 families were granted the ‘Erbhof’ honorary title. Among the recipients from South Tyrol were 29 merit medal winners and 10 merit cross recipients, recognized for contributions ranging from homeless outreach to alpine sports and emergency services.
