Tyrol honors volunteers for community and climate engagement

The Tyrol region is highlighting the importance of volunteerism through two major recognition events. At the 20th Climate Network Meeting in Innsbruck, approximately 200 participants gathered to discuss how local engagement can drive environmental change.

Climate Protection Councilor René Zumtobel emphasized that while knowledge of climate protection is abundant, active engagement is essential to foster a sense of responsibility. Featured projects included community-led photovoltaic systems, repair cafes, and mountain forest conservation efforts.

In a separate ceremony at the Arlberg WellCom congress center in St. Anton am Arlberg, 94 volunteers from the Landeck district were awarded the Tyrolean Volunteer Needle in Gold. The honorees represent various sectors, including emergency services, cultural and sports clubs, social institutions, and education, recognizing their long-term contributions to community life.
