Tyrol ski resorts announce winter season opening dates
Ski resorts in Tyrol, Austria, are preparing for the upcoming winter season with various opening dates scheduled across the region. The earliest openings occur at the Kaunertaler and Pitztaler glaciers, which opened in late September. Other locations, such as Sölden and the Hintertuxer Glacier, follow in early October, while the Stubai Glacier opens in mid-October.
Many major resorts are scheduled to begin operations in November, including Kitzbühel, Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, and Ischgl-Samnaun. Most remaining lifts, such as those in St. Anton am Arlberg, Serfaus Fiss Ladis, and the Zillertal Arena, are expected to become operational in early December.
Among the regional offerings, the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau is highlighted as a family-friendly destination. It features 114 kilometers of slopes and 45 lifts, offering a quieter alternative to more crowded areas. The region provides amenities such as free ski buses via the Alpbachtal Card and specialized facilities for children.
