Tyson Fury calls for Usyk trilogy after Joshua fight collapses

Tyson Fury has announced that his highly anticipated heavyweight bout against Anthony Joshua is off, citing a collapse in negotiations. The primary cause of the breakdown is a dispute over the fight's location: Joshua's camp and promoter Eddie Hearn have pushed for a venue in the United Kingdom, specifically Wembley Stadium, while organizers and stakeholders have favored a location in the United States, such as New York's Madison Square Garden.

Following this announcement, Fury has publicly challenged Oleksandr Usyk to a trilogy fight, potentially for November 2026. Fury, who lost to Usyk twice in 2024, expressed frustration with Joshua, accusing him of being “weak-minded” and backing out of the deal.

Usyk's manager, Sergey Lapin, has dismissed the call for a trilogy, stating that Usyk is not a “backup option” for Fury. Lapin emphasized that serious intentions must be backed by a concrete offer rather than media statements. While Fury seeks a new opponent, Eddie Hearn maintains that a legally binding agreement with Joshua remains in place, suggesting negotiations could still continue.
