Tyson Fury claims Conor McGregor copied his trash-talk style

Heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury has claimed that UFC star Conor McGregor emulated his specific style of verbal promotion and trash-talking during his rise to stardom. Fury stated that he provided a blueprint for using psychological warfare and entertainment-driven promotion to sell fights.

Fury described his approach to microphone work as a form of show business intended to entertain fans rather than a tactic to mentally break opponents. He noted a distinction in their methods, stating that while he engages in verbal sparring, he maintains a personal boundary by never targeting an athlete's family or children, unlike McGregor, who has targeted the families of opponents such as Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier.

Reflecting on his career, Fury suggested that if a world championship existed for verbal promotion, he would be the undisputed champion.
