Tyson Fury to fight in Dublin on Aug. 1 as he gears up for a showdown with Anthony Joshua
British heavyweight champion Tyson Fury announced that he will return to the ring on 1 August in Dublin, Ireland. He posted an Instagram video showing himself training in Thailand and said, “We’re heading for 1 August, Dublin, Ireland.” No opponent has been named yet, and promoter Frank Warren ruled out a bout with former champion Andy Ruiz Jr.
The fight is positioned as a warm‑up for the long‑awaited clash between Fury and fellow British heavyweight Anthony Joshua, which is expected to take place in November. Joshua is set to make his comeback a week earlier, on 25 July, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will face Albanian fighter Kristian Prenga. Fury recently returned after a 16‑month lay‑off with a points victory over Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov in April and has already challenged Joshua, who was present at the bout.
Both fights are part of a buildup that promoters have dubbed “The Battle of England,” aiming to pit the two leading British heavyweights against each other later in the year.
