Tyson Philpot faces twin brother Jalen in CFL showdown

Montreal Alouettes receiver Tyson Philpot will line up against his twin brother Jalen, who plays for the Calgary Stampeders, when the teams meet in Week 6. Tyson, who leads the CFL with 36 catches for 587 yards and has topped 100 receiving yards in each of his last three games, said, “If you look at both of our offences, that’s something we both thrive on.” Jalen has recorded 245 yards and three touchdowns, including two scores in Calgary’s 58‑36 win over Toronto on July 2.

The Alouettes (3‑1) return from a bye week averaging 33.3 points per game, while the Stampeders (2‑2) have scored 99 points over their two recent victories and lead the league in scoring (37.8 points per game) and touchdowns (19). Stampeders head coach and GM Dave Dickenson warned that “the rules definitely help the offence” and stressed the need to tackle well to stop Montreal.

Montreal quarterback Davis Alexander is second in the league with 1,478 passing yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions. Calgary quarterback Vernon Adams delivered a record‑setting performance, completing 20 of 25 passes for 405 yards and six touchdowns without an interception, becoming only the fifth player in CFL history to achieve those numbers in a game. Both quarterbacks noted their long‑standing friendship from former training sessions.
