Tzaki Hotel in Patras suspends operations after 47 years
The historic Tzaki Hotel in Patras has announced the suspension of its operations, ending 47 years of service as a prominent local hospitality landmark. The management has informed its ten employees of the decision and confirmed that all legally required severance payments have been processed.
The establishment’s roots date back to 1932, when Aikaterini Spyropoulou established a small seaside hut serving wine and appetizers. By the 1950s, the site evolved into an organized leisure center, and the hotel officially opened its doors in March 1978.
For decades, the 48-room hotel served as a social hub for weddings, conferences, and community events. It also held a significant connection to local sports, frequently hosting football teams including Panachaiki FC, partly due to the long-standing involvement of its director, Dimitris Kyzas, with the club.
