Tzermiado, Crete hosts 30th Annual Potato Festival

The 30th edition of the Potato Festival will take place in Tzermiado, on the Lasithi Plateau of Crete, from Friday 21 August to Sunday 23 August 2026. The event is organized by the Cultural Association "Anagenisi" in partnership with the Municipality of Tzermiado and the Regional Unit of Lasithi.

The programme includes a Friday night Cretan celebration featuring the band of Grigoris Samolis, a Saturday evening concert by singer‑songwriter Nikos Kourkoulis and the opening of the unique Hira Georgakaki, and a Sunday free performance by the Heraklion Theatrical Stage presenting Robert Tom’s play "The Trap". More than 4,000 kg of potatoes will be hand‑cleaned, cut and cooked in a variety of traditional recipes, continuing a long‑standing local tradition.
