Dinamo București sanctioned for xenophobic chanting
The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) Discipline Commission has imposed a fine of 11,250 lei on Dinamo București following xenophobic chants from its supporters during an away match against Sepsi OSK. The incident, which occurred during the second half, forced the referee to interrupt play for two minutes.
Local authorities in Sfântu Gheorghe filed an official complaint, noting that ethnic hate slogans persisted for several minutes. The Mayor of Sfântu Gheorghe, Antal Árpád, criticized the officiating crew and security forces for failing to follow anti-discrimination protocols, such as sending teams to the locker rooms or permanently suspending the match.
In response to the incident, FC Argeș president Dani Coman commented on the situation, stating that while he condemns racist and xenophobic behavior, he also expressed discomfort regarding the use of the Hungarian language in Romanian stadiums. Dinamo President Andrei Nicolescu has officially distanced the club from the fans' behavior.
