U2 marks 50 years with new album and surprise Dublin concerts

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the Irish rock band U2 has announced their sixteenth studio album, ‘Carnaval De Luz’, scheduled for release on November 13, 2026. This marks the group's first album of new material in nine years.

The announcement follows a series of surprise commemorative events in Dublin, including a special schoolyard concert at Mount Temple Comprehensive School. This is the location where the band members first met in September 1976 after drummer Larry Mullen Jr. posted a handwritten notice seeking musicians.

The upcoming album features 12 tracks and includes a significant collaboration: the song ‘Torn’, a duet between Bono and the late Dolly Parton. This track serves as Parton's final vocal recording. Other contributors to the project include Brian Eno, Martin Garrix, and Daniel Lanois. The band also released the single ‘Silencio’ alongside the album announcement.
