U2 named 2027 MusiCares Persons of the Year

The Irish rock band U2 has been named the 2027 MusiCares Persons of the Year. The honor recognizes the group's groundbreaking musical careers and their long-standing commitment to humanitarian causes and global justice.

The 36th annual MusiCares benefit and tribute concert is scheduled for February 7, 2027, at the Peacock Theater. In a departure from previous years, the tribute concert portion will be open to fans for the first time. The event takes place two days before the Grammy Awards.

The recognition celebrates the collective work of Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. While Bono was previously honored as MusiCares Person of the Year in 2003, this upcoming award honors the entire band for their activism. Notable efforts include Bono’s work with ONE and (RED), The Edge’s involvement with Music Rising, Clayton’s support for mental health and addiction recovery, and Mullen’s advocacy for dyslexia awareness.
