U2 named 2027 MusiCares Persons of the Year

The Recording Academy has named the Irish rock band U2 as the 2027 MusiCares Persons of the Year. The honor recognizes the group's five decades of musical influence and their extensive humanitarian activism.

Members Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. will be celebrated at a tribute ceremony on February 5, 2027, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The event, which takes place two days before the Grammy Awards, will feature a special concert with guest artists performing the band's music.

MusiCares, the charitable arm of the Recording Academy, selected the band for their dedication to global health, disaster response, mental health, and poverty alleviation. The organization provides support to music industry professionals facing health, financial, or addiction-related challenges.
