U20 Vietnam faces slim qualification chances in AFC U20 Asian Cup

U20 Vietnam faces a difficult path in the 2027 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers after losing their first two matches in Group C. Following a 0-3 defeat to North Korea and a 1-2 loss to Palestine, the team currently sits at the bottom of the group with zero points.

To maintain a chance of advancing to the final tournament, U20 Vietnam must secure a victory in their final group match against Iran on September 6. Even with a win, their progression depends on specific scenarios, including winning by a margin of at least two goals and hoping North Korea defeats Palestine to allow Vietnam to qualify as one of the seven best runners-up.

Coach Yutaka Ikeuchi has expressed caution regarding the slim mathematical possibilities but emphasized that the squad will fight until the final moment. The team's performance in the final match will be critical to determining whether they can join other regional successes, such as Thailand and Indonesia, who have secured stronger positions in their respective groups.
