U20 World Athletics Championships in Oregon draws Spanish and Mexican teen athletes

The World Under‑20 Athletics Championships will be staged in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from August 5 to 9, 2024.

Spain’s Castilla‑y‑León region has selected six athletes: sprinter Celia Cortés (100 m champion with 11.49 seconds), middle‑distance runner Claudia Gutiérrez (competing in the 1 500 m and 3 000 m), hurdler Alex Ibáñez (400 m hurdles in 50.10 seconds), race‑walker Irene Vega (5 km in 23:12.94), Alejandro Núñez (men’s 4 × 400 m relay) and Carla Rodríguez (mixed 4 × 100 m relay).

Mexico’s Nayarit delegation includes discus thrower Brandon Delgado Castro, who holds the Mexican U20 record of 59.14 metres, sprinter Sofía Muro de Anda, selected for the 4 × 100 m relay after winning national titles, and Susana Montes González, who competes in the 200 m, 400 m, hurdles and the mixed 4 × 400 m relay.
