UAB women's soccer defeats East Carolina 2-1

UAB women's soccer secured a 2-1 comeback victory against East Carolina on Sunday at Johnson Stadium. The win brings UAB's record to 5-5-1 overall and 2-1 in American Athletic Conference play.

East Carolina took an early lead in the fifth minute with a goal from Isabella Gutiérrez. However, UAB dominated the second half, outshooting the Pirates 14-1 during that period. Emily Cole leveled the score in the 60th minute, and Vita Naihin scored the winning goal in the 69th minute following a corner kick.

Despite seven saves from East Carolina goalkeeper Olivia Dietrich, the Pirates were unable to mount an attack in the final 20 minutes of the match. East Carolina falls to 2-3-6 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.
