UABC awards 131 academic positions to faculty members

The Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) has awarded 131 academic positions to faculty members following the 2026-1 Opposition and Merit Contests. The distribution includes 81 permanent positions and 50 interim roles.

Geographically, the appointments are spread across three cities: Mexicali received 36 permanent and 19 interim positions, Tijuana received 20 permanent and 17 interim positions, and Ensenada received 25 permanent and 14 interim positions.

UABC Rector Luis Enrique Palafox Maestre stated that these assignments provide greater institutional certainty for academic staff and strengthen higher education. He noted that the selection process is based on merit, capacity, and professional trajectory to ensure transparency and equity.
