UABC to establish Mexico’s first Cleft Lip and Palate University Hospital

The Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), in collaboration with Fundación UABC and the Faculty of Dentistry (FOM) in Mexicali, has presented the project for Mexico’s first University Hospital for Cleft Lip and Palate (HULPH).

The initiative aims to centralize clinical care, professional training, and specialized research in a single location. The hospital is designed to provide multidisciplinary follow-up for patients from birth through their developmental stages, expanding specialized service coverage for Baja California and the northwestern region of the country.

UABC Rector Luis Enrique Palafox Maestre stated that the project serves to strengthen student training and generate significant social impact. The project builds upon three decades of experience and professional capacity developed by the Faculty of Dentistry. Fundación UABC has committed to leading fundraising efforts for the hospital’s equipment.
