UABCS, CIBNOR, and University of Tottori celebrate 20 years of academic exchange

Authorities from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS), the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas del Noroeste (CIBNOR), and the University of Tottori in Japan recently met to celebrate 20 years of academic collaboration.

Since 2006, the program has facilitated student mobility by hosting groups of five to 20 Japanese students annually at UABCS. These students participate in academic classes, field research, community activities, and scientific projects, gaining direct experience with the natural and cultural landscape of Baja California Sur.

The meeting was led by UABCS Rector Dr. Dante Salgado González, alongside Dr. Hiroki Sakagushi from the University of Tottori and Dr. Ana Valdivia Alvarado representing CIBNOR. Dr. Salgado González emphasized the importance of education in building better societies and noted that both Mexico and Japan face shared global challenges that require continued mutual learning and collaboration.
