UABCS hosts language festival and interculturality forum

The Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS) is hosting several initiatives to promote cultural and linguistic diversity in the region. The university held the DELE Fest 2026 in La Paz, an event organized by the Department of Foreign Languages to encourage language learning through cultural activities, games, and competitions.

A highlight of the festival was the Third DELE English Short Story Contest, where students from CBTIS No. 62 secured the top positions. Darla Sofía Hidalgo Morales won first place for her work ‘The sea after sunset’, followed by Francisco de Anda Débora in second and Vania Zamora Aceves in third.

Additionally, UABCS will host a discussion titled ‘Interculturality in Baja California Sur’ on September 30 at the Poliforo Cultural Universitario. Part of the national ‘El Maíz Nos Une’ strategy, the event will feature specialists discussing the contributions of indigenous peoples, the Afro-Mexican community, fishing traditions in the southern islands, and the ranching culture of the Sierra La Laguna Biosphere Reserve.
