UACJ hosts fourth Social Work Conferences focused on mental health

The Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) is hosting its fourth Social Work Conferences, with mental health serving as the central theme. The event includes lectures, workshops, and discussions involving students, faculty, and alumni.

During the inauguration at the Institute of Social Sciences and Administration, Rector Daniel Alberto Constandse Cortez highlighted the university's commitment to mental health through policies such as the creation of the General Directorate of University Well-being. He emphasized that mental health is a human right essential for personal, social, and economic development.

Dr. Adriana Ornelas Beltrán, a researcher from UNAM, delivered a keynote titled ‘A Social Approach to Mental Health.’ She noted that mental health has become a global concern, with 45% of 31 surveyed countries identifying it as a primary issue. Beltrán argued for moving beyond individualistic treatments to consider social contexts—including family, work, and school—to better understand and address conditions like anxiety, depression, and personality disorders.
