UACJ hosts national flag football tryouts in Ciudad Juárez
The Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) hosted flag football tryouts at its University Sports Complex, attracting approximately 70 aspirants for its senior and youth male and female teams. The recruitment effort expanded beyond the local region, drawing participants from El Paso, Texas; Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua; Mexico City; and Chilpancingo, Guerrero.
Head coach Aarón Everardo Botello Ávila stated that the program shifted to a national call for participants this year to increase internal competitiveness. The selection process prioritized technical quality over specific numbers, with approximately 70 percent of the attendees being women.
The evaluation was conducted in two phases: physical tests focusing on speed and athletics on the first day, followed by a lightning tournament on the second day to assess technical and tactical performance in game situations. The coaching staff is utilizing the current preseason to prepare for upcoming CONADE tournaments and university championships.
