UACJ names two international athletes as sports ambassadors

The Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) has named Gabriela Ibarra Hernández and Silvia Elicero Castillo as university sports ambassadors in recognition of their international athletic achievements.

Ibarra, a student of Sports Training, served as captain of the Mexican Women’s Street Football Team during the 2025 Homeless World Cup in Norway. She also earned a runner-up position at the 2026 Wroclaw International Cup in Poland, where she was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Elicero, also a Sports Training student, has a professional background including stints with FC Juárez Femenil and the Mexican U-20 National Team. Her accolades include championships in the Major Arena Soccer League Women and titles in the TST Women’s and TST Mixed tournaments held in North Carolina.

During the recognition ceremony, UACJ Rector Daniel Alberto Constandse Cortez praised their trajectories while emphasizing the importance of balancing professional athletic success with academic preparation.
