UAdeC music student wins international composition contest

Omar Eduardo Medina Ortiz, a seventh-semester composition student at the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila’s Escuela Superior de Música, has won an international composition contest. His work, titled ‘Valiente Colibrí’, was selected for the Composition Contest for Children's Choir and Orchestra held during the upcoming International Children's Music Festival in Colombia.

The piece, which tells the story of a hummingbird finding the courage to fly again after a storm, focuses on themes of resilience, bravery, and hope. The work will receive its world premiere during the festival, where it will be performed by a children's choir and orchestra and professionally recorded for digital platforms.
