UAE accused of providing secret intelligence to Houthi rebels
According to a report by the American website Dropsight News, citing four informed sources, the United Arab Emirates has been providing secret intelligence assistance to the Houthi group in Yemen. This support reportedly includes the exchange of information and assistance in identifying military targets belonging to Saudi-backed government forces.
Sources claim that the cooperation involves direct intelligence sharing between the UAE and the Houthis to target government forces within Yemeni territory. While the assistance is said to be limited to targets inside Yemen and does not include information regarding targets within Saudi Arabia, sources indicate that communication channels between the two parties remain open. The report further notes that the Houthis have established specific contact channels with Yemeni military leaders who remain loyal to the UAE.
A senior U.S. official reportedly warned Abu Dhabi recently after Washington became aware of this secret assistance, urging the UAE to cease the activity. However, sources suggest that the intelligence exchange is continuing.
In response, Houthi official Mohammed al-Bukhaiti denied receiving any Emirati support, asserting that Abu Dhabi maintains neutrality and has refused to participate in military operations alongside Saudi Arabia.
