UAE accuses Iran of missile attack on ADNOC tanker in Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates has condemned an Iranian missile attack on an ADNOC oil tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE government accused Tehran of "acts of piracy" and targeting commercial shipping to exert economic pressure.

While initial reports from ADNOC stated the situation was under control and no injuries were reported in this specific incident, the company noted a pattern of escalating hostility. ADNOC previously reported that 15 of its vessels have been attacked by missiles and drones since the outbreak of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran in February, resulting in one death and 20 injuries.

The UAE Foreign Ministry stated that the attack violates UN Security Council resolutions regarding freedom of navigation. The ministry has called on Iran to halt these attacks and unconditionally reopen the strait, a critical waterway through which approximately one-fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas passes.
