UAE businesses push ahead with VAT e‑invoicing and tech resilience
The United Arab Emirates is rapidly expanding digital tax compliance. VAT e‑invoicing, now a legal requirement under the Federal Tax Authority, aims to ensure compliance, curb fraud and streamline invoice processing. Companies that adopt compliant systems report faster payment cycles, reduced manual errors and lower operational costs.
A KPMG report shows UAE organisations outpacing global peers in technology strategy. In the next year, 54% plan to hire more on‑shore tech talent, 49% intend to shift to open‑source software, and 43% will increase geographic scrutiny of cybersecurity suppliers. About 41% aim to cut exposure to adversarial countries, while 90% rank in the top two global resilience tiers and 66% claim optimized cybersecurity. Leading concerns include AI transparency and intellectual‑property risks linked to open‑source use.
