UAE Chief of Staff visits Morocco for joint military committee meeting

General Issa Saif bin Aylan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, conducted an official visit to Morocco to participate in the third meeting of the Morocco-UAE Joint Military Committee. The meeting, held on October 5-6, 2026, focused on strengthening military cooperation, specifically in defense industry development, capacity building, training, and the exchange of expertise.

In Rabat, General Mohamed Briath, Inspector General of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, received the UAE delegation. Following the discussions, the two officials co-chaired the closing session of the Joint Military Committee, which reported positive outcomes across several strategic areas. The visit also coincides with the Marrakech Airshow 2026, scheduled for October 7-10.

As a gesture of appreciation for his efforts in enhancing bilateral military ties, General Al Mazrouei was awarded the Military Order of Merit, Grand Cordon, by King Mohammed VI. Military cooperation between the two nations dates back to a 1980 agreement and was further strengthened by a framework agreement in May 2006.
