UAE defense and cybersecurity models highlighted by industry leaders

The United Arab Emirates is emerging as a model for integrated cyber and air defense, emphasizing layered security and strategic technological investment. Daniel Mouton, CEO of Lockheed Martin Middle East, noted that the UAE's approach to managing high volumes of cyberattacks—sometimes reaching 800,000 within 24 hours—demonstrates the necessity of data integration and multi-layered defense systems.

To support this evolving security landscape, the SANS Institute is partnering with the UAE Cybersecurity Council and CyberE71 to focus on human capability and professional training. This collaboration, formalized through a 2025 MoU, aims to address emerging threats by providing specialized training in artificial intelligence security, industrial control systems (ICS/OT), and quantum-readiness. The initiative seeks to connect professional skill development with the broader innovation ecosystem, including startups and universities, to build long-term cyber resilience.
