UAE e-commerce market hits 42.2 billion dirhams in 2025
The UAE e-commerce market reached 42.2 billion dirhams (approximately 11.5 billion USD) in 2025, marking a significant increase from 17.6 billion dirhams in 2020. According to the sixth annual e-commerce report released by EZ Dubai South in partnership with Euromonitor International, the sector achieved a compound annual growth rate of 19% over the last five years.
Digital sales now account for 15.7% of the UAE's total retail sales, a figure projected to exceed 20% by 2030. The market is expected to continue its expansion, reaching an estimated 67.2 billion dirhams by 2030, with a projected compound annual growth rate of 9.9% between 2026 and 2030.
Clothing and footwear led electronic spending in 2025 with a value of 11.4 billion dirhams, followed by consumer electronics and home care products. Key emerging trends driving this growth include the integration of artificial intelligence for personalized shopping, the rise of social commerce, and the expansion of quick commerce and last-mile delivery services. Additionally, digital payment solutions such as e-wallets and ‘buy now, pay later’ services are playing a pivotal role in accelerating transactions.
