UAE explores buying India's Akashteer air‑defence network and BrahMos missile

The United Arab Emirates is reported to be in talks to acquire two Indian defence systems. One is Akashteer, an artificial‑intelligence‑enabled command‑and‑control network designed to integrate diverse radars, sensors and weapons into a single air‑defence picture. Officials say the system would help the UAE streamline its existing mix of US THAAD and Patriot, South Korean, Israeli and Russian platforms, improving response times against drone swarms and coordinated missile attacks.

In parallel, the UAE is also evaluating the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, a joint Indian‑Russian development capable of Mach 3 speeds and launch from land, sea, air and submarine platforms. The missile’s high speed, precision and versatility are viewed as a way to boost the Gulf state’s deterrence and rapid‑response capabilities. A potential deal would mark a major step for India’s defence exports, following the Philippines contract, and could deepen strategic ties between New Delhi and the Gulf while influencing regional security calculations.
