UAE insurance sector profits surge 54% to Dh4 billion in 2025
The UAE insurance sector experienced significant growth in 2025, with total profits rising approximately 54% to Dh4 billion, up from Dh2.6 billion the previous year. According to data from the Central Bank of the UAE, the industry’s total assets climbed to Dh164.9 billion, a 6.1% increase from 2024.
Gross written premiums grew by nearly 15% to reach approximately Dh75 billion. While total claims paid by insurers also rose by 11% to Dh46.2 billion, premium income growth outpaced the increase in claims. The number of active insurance policies reached 17.3 million, a surge largely attributed to the implementation of mandatory health insurance, which saw a 26.1% increase in policies.
The sector’s investment activity remains robust, with invested assets totaling Dh96.4 billion, representing 58.4% of the industry’s total assets. Additionally, the industry maintains a strong capital position, with available capital standing at 455% of the minimum required level.
