UAE intercepts Iranian drone and suspends trade with Iran

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense confirmed that an Iranian drone was intercepted within Emirati territorial waters before it could enter. While the UAE denied media reports of a missile attack on Al Minah Airbase, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the drone incident, holding Iran fully responsible and describing it as a violation of sovereignty and a threat to civilians.

This incident follows a pattern of regional escalation. On August 18, the UAE's air defense systems tracked two ballistic missiles launched from Iran aimed at maritime shipping. Additionally, US Central Command reported targeting two missile launchers on Iran's Lark Island to prevent the placement of explosives in the Strait of Hormuz to protect global trade.

In response to the heightened tensions, the UAE has suspended all trade and business relations with Iran. Dr. Anwar Gargash, Advisor to the UAE President for Diplomatic Affairs, stated that policies targeting Gulf nations and Jordan have failed, emphasizing that a realistic political solution is necessary to restore normalcy to maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
