UAE launches SEO satellite to advance national space capabilities
The National Space Science and Technology Centre (NSSTC) at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has announced the successful launch of the SEO satellite. The satellite was deployed via a Long March 2C carrier rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in China.
The mission is designed to advance the UAE’s National Space Strategy by strengthening the country’s position in the global space sector and supporting the knowledge economy. A key objective of the SEO project is the development of national talent, providing Emirati researchers and engineers with practical experience in the design, development, and operation of satellites.
In terms of application, the satellite will provide data to support scientific research and technology related to sustainability. This includes providing information for environmental protection, natural resource management, and strategic planning and decision-making.
