UAE logistics expansion: New rail link and Sharjah-Oman corridor

Etihad Rail and AD Ports Group have launched a direct rail service connecting Fujairah Terminals to the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD). This integrated logistics solution allows cargo arriving at the East Coast maritime gateway to be transported approximately 200 km by rail to ICAD, where customers can access customs clearance, inspection, and cargo release services. ICAD has been designated with its own UN LOCODE, “AECAD”, establishing it as an international logistics location.

Separately, a logistics corridor established by the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority in cooperation with Oman Customs has processed approximately US$463 million (AED 1.7 billion) in cargo during its first three months of operation. The corridor connects UAE ports with the Omani ports of Sohar, Duqm, and Salalah via the Khatmat Malaha and Al Madam border crossings. The corridor has seen a 66.26% increase in cargo value compared to the previous year, serving markets including Saudi Arabia, Africa, and Asia.
