UAE Ministry of Defence launches Beladi programme

The UAE Ministry of Defence has launched the ‘Beladi’ programme, an 11-month initiative designed to develop national talent and strengthen the country’s military readiness and operational reserve.

The programme focuses on investing in human capital by building leadership skills, technical expertise, and practical knowledge among young Emiratis to prepare them for national service. The selection process began with a Leadership Competency Assessment phase, which included psychological, physical, and cognitive evaluations, as well as interviews and field assessments to match candidates with suitable pathways.

During its pilot year, the programme offers various specialised pathways with plans for future expansion. Participants receive instruction from UAE Armed Forces experts, combining coursework with hands-on application. The initiative aims to create a sustainable connection between participants and the military establishment while ensuring the continuous transfer of expertise to meet future national requirements.
