UAE National Center of Meteorology debunks viral El Niño flood predictions

The United Arab Emirates National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has dismissed viral social media videos and claims predicting extreme rainfall and large-scale flooding in the country due to the El Niño climate pattern.

The NCM clarified that while El Niño is a natural phenomenon that primarily affects the Pacific region, its influence on the UAE is indirect. While the current year's El Niño intensity may indicate a possibility of improved rainfall, the center emphasized that the country's weather situation remains stable and is being monitored 24/7.

Authorities have urged citizens and residents to rely solely on official government sources for weather updates and to refrain from spreading unverified information or rumors. Experts noted that while El Niño's impact was more prominent in East Asia during the summer, its effects in West Asia may be more limited, though some impacts could be felt during the autumn months of October and November.
