UAE oil output reaches record 4.1 million bpd after OPEC departure
In June, the United Arab Emirates produced a record 4.1 million barrels of crude per day, the highest level ever recorded for the country. The output jumped from 3.3 million bpd in May, following the UAE’s formal exit from OPEC and OPEC+ on May 1. The surge surpasses the previous peak of 4 million bpd set in 2020 and nearly doubles the pre‑crisis output levels.
The increase reflects expanded capacity at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), which can sustainably produce up to 4.85 million bpd and plans to double its export capacity through a new offshore pipeline at Fujairah. Despite heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, the UAE has maintained and grown exports by routing tankers around the waterway and using offshore loading facilities. The added supply is expected to place downward pressure on global oil prices and forces remaining OPEC members to consider production adjustments.
Analysts note that the record output could also impact related sectors, including commodity‑linked token markets and energy‑intensive Bitcoin mining, by potentially lowering energy costs worldwide.
