UAE outlines proactive roadmap for 6G technology development

The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has outlined a proactive roadmap for the development of 6G technology in the United Arab Emirates. During the 6G MENA 2026 conference in Abu Dhabi, TDRA Director-General Majed Sultan Al Mesmar stated that the nation is integrating 6G into a broader vision for smart, flexible, and secure digital infrastructure.

Building on the country’s 5G deployment, which covers over 99.5% of populated areas with more than 10 million subscribers, the UAE has already conducted advanced trials in the 6 GHz band. These trials reached speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second, demonstrating the potential for 6G to support autonomous mobility, healthcare, and smart city applications.
