UAE President engages in Lebanon diplomacy amid Sudan conflict allegations

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held discussions regarding regional security and the strengthening of economic ties. The talks focused on the evolving security situation in southern Lebanon and recent high-level government and business exchanges aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation. Non-oil trade between Lebanon and the UAE reached $4.2 billion in 2025, marking a 35.6 percent increase.

Separately, Human Rights Watch has urged German officials to address the United Arab Emirates’ role in the Sudanese conflict during an upcoming meeting with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Berlin. The advocacy follows a UN Fact-Finding Mission report alleging that entities linked to the UAE provided military-related support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan. While the UAE has denied these allegations, investigators documented networks involved in the recruitment and financing of military contractors benefiting the RSF.
