UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan meets Slovak PM Robert Fico in Bratislava on investments and direct air
On 29 July 2026 the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, arrived in Bratislava for a diplomatic visit. He held a several‑hour working meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
The two leaders discussed a range of cooperation projects, including a major infrastructure scheme on the Danube River in Bratislava, continued collaboration in the defence sector, and public‑private partnership initiatives in Slovak agriculture focused on modernising irrigation. They also explored the possibility of UAE investment in the Slovak spa industry under state control and asked for support in establishing a direct flight connection between Bratislava and Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The talks included an exchange of views on the security situation in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine. The visit built on a previous Slovak foreign‑ministerial trip to the UAE in October 2025 and was followed by a joint statement reaffirming the deepening bilateral relationship.
