UAE ramps up oil exports despite Hormuz blockage

The United Arab Emirates, which left OPEC on May 1, raised its crude output to a record 4.1 million barrels per day in June, up from 3.3 million bpd in May. Using a mix of on‑shore pipelines, dark‑mode transits through the Strait of Hormuz and loading larger vessels outside the chokepoint, the UAE kept oil flowing while the strait was largely blocked.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) issued a series of tenders – the seventh by the end of July – offering millions of barrels for loading at Zirku, Das Island, Fujairah and via ship‑to‑ship transfers offshore Fujairah and Malaysia. Vessel‑tracking data from Bloomberg show the UAE shipped more crude through the strait in June‑July than any other Gulf producer. The International Energy Agency estimates confirm the production surge and the effectiveness of the UAE’s work‑arounds.
