UAE rejects $3 million in Iranian agricultural exports

The United Arab Emirates has rejected approximately 4,000 tons of Iranian agricultural exports, consisting of over 200 40-foot refrigerated containers filled with various fruits, vegetables, and produce. The shipments, valued at roughly $3 million, are currently stalled near Abu Musa island in the Persian Gulf.

Reza Norani, head of the National Union of Agricultural Products of Iran, stated that the UAE government has not yet provided an explanation for this action. He warned that the delay poses a significant risk of the perishable goods spoiling, which could lead to heavy financial losses for producers and exporters.

While recent diplomatic meetings during the BRICS summit suggested an opening for improved trade relations, this rejection of goods is viewed by some experts as contrary to international trade laws. The National Union of Agricultural Products has expressed readiness to form a joint working group with relevant government agencies to resolve the situation and prevent further damage.
