UAE schools reopen for the 2026–27 academic year

More than 1.277 million students have returned to over 1,180 public and private schools across the United Arab Emirates for the 2026–27 academic year. UAE leaders issued messages of encouragement to students, teachers, and parents to mark the occasion.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan described children as the nation’s “true wealth” and urged students to approach the year with optimism and determination. Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also emphasized the critical role of education in shaping the future of the country.

As the new term begins, the return to school has led to increased traffic congestion in various communities. Parents in areas such as Emirates Hills and Arabian Ranches have reported significant delays during morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups, with some school bus journeys taking considerably longer due to heavy road traffic and school zone queues.
