UAE to invest AED200 billion in clean energy by 2030
The United Arab Emirates plans to invest up to AED200 billion in clean energy projects and infrastructure through 2030. This initiative aims to diversify energy sources, improve efficiency, and meet rising demand driven by economic and population growth.
Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, stated that the country’s renewable energy capacity has grown more than 63-fold over the last decade, rising from 129 megawatts in 2015 to over 8.2 gigawatts in 2025. Clean energy accounted for 32.4 percent of the nation's electricity generation in 2025, with a strategic target to increase this share to 35 percent by 2031.
The UAE's energy strategy focuses on the principle that energy security and emissions reduction are complementary objectives. The investment plan is intended to encourage private sector participation and strengthen partnerships across the energy sector while leveraging advanced technologies to improve resource efficiency.
