UAEMex students win medals at Singapore Math Olympiad

Students Geraldine Victoria Mendoza Monroy and Óscar Tadeo Molina Ortiz from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMex) represented their institution at the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) 2026.

The competition brought together more than 2,000 students from 41 different countries. Both students earned medals and honorable mentions during the event.

Mendoza Monroy, a student from the Isidro Fabela Alfaro campus in Atlacomulco, noted that the discipline provided new perspectives and cultural experiences. Molina Ortiz, a graduate of the Lic. Adolfo López Mateos campus, highlighted the challenge of applying logical and pragmatic reasoning to problems that differ from standard classroom mathematics.
